Weighty wool blanket with a wide geometric pattern, a collaboration between TOAST and The Bristol Weaving Mill. The design was developed in the Bristol studio using hand-woven swatches, before being machine-woven by the company’s partner mill in Scotland. A mix of British heritage wool and New Zealand yarns form a double-faced structure, brushed for softness and finished with short fringing.

An Independent Operation
Bristol Weaving Mill began in 2015 when textile designers Juliet Bailey and Frank Brewer wanted to create more unorthodox specialty woven cloth and finished products. They work on large hand looms alongside an old power loom from the 1980s, and engage weavers and finishers based in the borders of Scotland, or in Yorkshire, for either warping, weaving or finishing. For each of their pieces, all the design, development and sampling begins in Bristol.
Bristol Weaving Mill have collaborated with TOAST to produce our Bristol Weaving Mill Geo Blanket, alongside their partner mill in the Scottish borders. Boasting a core grey design, overlaid with geometric bands of blue squares, the Geo Blankets were inspired by the wider collection’s themes, leaning into ideas about sculpture, origami and building blocks.
